A couple of months ago everyone at SearchStar was asked to complete the b-Heard survey, Best Companies’ utterly anonymous academically-designed measure of employee engagement. Fast forward to today (ish) and we’ve been awarded a 2* Best Company Index (BCI) score. And that makes us deliriously happy.
Being given a 2* rating means that we’ve achieved ‘outstanding’ employee engagement levels at the first time of asking. In short, that means this is a pretty good place to work. And in not so short...
‘...an engaged workforce is more motivated and productive because people take pride in what they are doing and have faith in those around them. This leads to better working relationships, greater collaboration and ultimately a more successful organisation.’
Importantly, our score offers us a fantastic chance of entering the Sunday Times Best 100 Small Companies list (next published in February 2019) having only become eligible in mid-2018 upon reaching 50 employees.
“Every year we conduct a staff survey, which helps us better understand what our employees like about SearchStar and what frustrates them. We then use the responses to shape positive change within the agency.
The results are generally fantastic, but this year we wanted to take things a step further and set a marker in the sand - something quantifiable, repeatable and truly anonymous.
This is the first year we’ve asked the team to complete the b-Heard survey and it feels great to have achieved a 2* rating. But, of course, we’ll be looking at ways of improving and hope to bring it up to the full 3 stars by 2020.”
